Letters from Ezra Pound, 1907-1959.

This collection comprises letters (the majority originals, ca. 12 photocopies) written by Ezra Pound to Mary Moore primarily in the last months of 1907 while he was teaching at Wabash College in Indiana. Also includes letters from his time in Venice, London, Rapallo, and St. Elizabeth's Hospital; and some early drafts of published as well as unpublished works.

Ezra Pound was an expatriate American poet and critic, a major figure in the early modernist poetry movement, and a fascist collaborator in Italy during World War II. His works include Ripostes (1912), Hugh Selwyn Mauberley (1920), and his 800-page epic poem, The Cantos (c. 1917–1962). Mary Moore was the daughter of a Trenton businessman. She met Erza Pound in the summer of 1907, and they began a correspondence that lasted for fifty years. Pound dedicated his Personae to "Mary Moore of Trenton if she wants it." After an abortive engagement with Pound, she eventually married Frederick Cross. Mary Moore died in 1976.
